Manifold Insulators

Q. What would you suggest first, Manifold Insulator or Plenum Spacer?

A. Manifold Insulator first.

 Q. How will it fit under the bonnet?

A. You best bet would be to take a couple of measurements just to make sure as every car is different; fitment summary from experience for your car is as shown below.

  • Raising manifold by 12mm: Cover will go on like factory
  • Raising manifold by 25mm: Cover will need to be trimmed around the alternator or bonnet liner needs to be removed or trimmed. Otherwise cover will rub on bonnet liner
  • Raising manifold by 37mm: Cover will need to be removed. Otherwise cover will rub on bonnet liner/possibly not close depending engine mounts
  • Raising manifold by 50mm: Will require bonnet mods without cover

Q. What advantage is the 25mm manifold insulator over the 12mm? Extra torque low down?

A. The 12mm manifold insulator give around 10% increase in low down torque, while the 25mm item give around 13% increase over a broader range.

Q. I drive an ecotec v6 that’s been cammed with full exhaust, was looking at your manifold insulator and 25mm plenum spacer, would there be any complications in running these?

A. In regards to spacers, I would recommend a 25mm manifold insulator and 12mm plenum spacer. There will be no complications with these products, not requiring a tune.

Q. What sizes do you recommend for the manifold insulators and plenum spacers if I’m running boost

A. I would recommend a 25mm plenum spacer and 12mm manifold insulator, as the thicker plenum spacer does offer even better air distribution between cylinders, which is more critical in boosted cars making lots of HP.

Q. Do you have manifold insulators for a 2004 Cadillac CTS 3.6L? I think this engine is similar to the Alloytech engine.

A. We’ve send some to CTS customer before, with no problems. If you do encounter any issues bring it back for a FULL refund including postage

Q. In regards to the performance plenum spacer, are they available for VR 1994 V6?

A. Unfortunately there not available for the Buick/non ecotec engines

Q. If I install a Manifold insulator, Plenum spacer and a ported throttle body will it all fit under the engine cover?

A. It will, provided the spacers in total are no more than 25mm you should be fine with the engine cover still on there.

Q. Can you paint the manifold insulators/plenum spacers?

A. Yes you can paint them.

Q. Recently I have been considering purchasing some spacers for my Ecotec. However I do want to keep the engine cover on and keep that below my strut brace, cars a VS series 2 acclaim v6

A. In regards to the spacers given that you have a VS and still want to keep the engine cover, from experience you’ll only be able to install a single 12mm spacer, in which case would recommend the 12mm manifold insulator. In saying this though it would be best if you measured how much spacer you have because strut tower brace designs vary, in which case you may even be able to fit a 25mm manifold insulator. If you had even more room then a 12mm plenum spacer works well. If you were running boost then I would recommend the 25mm item.

Q. I have heard that if I fit this 25mm plenum spacer plus a 25mm manifold insulator that the plenum cover will touch the bonnet or the bonnet will not close is this correct? Would I be better off with a 12mm manifold insulator and a 25mm plenum spacer?

A. If your running boost then I would suggest a 25mm plenum spacer and a 12mm manifold insulator. It would be ideal to run both the 25mm manifold insulator and 25mm plenum spacer in your application however it would require the bonnet to be modified, as the plenum cover would touch.
