Dayco’s automatic belt tensioner maintains proper belt tension throughout the belt drive by incorporating an automatic, spring-loaded tensioner into the drive system geometry. It features a patented “flat spring” design that’s engineered to provide less operating range variations in tension. This reduces the risk of premature accessory bearing failure due to high tension when a new belt is installed. It also lessens the risk of belt squeal and slippage, or poor accessory performance caused by low tension after the belt begins to stretch and wear. A Teflon strip wound within the spring resists abrasion. The flat spring itself is coated to resist rust.

When it comes to building horsepower and torque, you need to start at the bottom and work your way up. Bullet-proof your LS engine's bottom-end with high quality components from Manley Performance. Stroking out the 5.7L LS1 V8 to no more than 383 cubic inches (6.3L) is fundamental in preserving its reliability. Unfortunately, given the manufacturing processes that were in place at the time of release, the cast iron cylinder liners could only be bored out by 0.010”. Anymore than this could potentially deform cylinder walls under high pressure, especially in boosted applications.

Unfortunately, Manley Performance does not have an off-the-shelf kit ready to go for the LS1.
